How to make an appointment

We take referrals over the phone so if you want to refer yourself, or another young person, please call us on 020 8348 5947. You can also send an email to with your name and phone number and we will call you back.

We are open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 7pm, and Friday from 9am to 6pm (please note we do not take new referrals on Fridays).

During the call, we will ask you a few questions to help us assess which part of the service is most appropriate for you. We will then contact you within 6 weeks to offer you an initial appointment, either face to face or by phone, to think with you about your situation and how we can help.  Your name will then be added to the appropriate waiting list.

During the initial appointment, we will check when you would be available to attend weekly sessions. It is helpful if you have some daytime availability because we have a very limited number of evening appointment times and the wait is longer for appointments after 4pm.

Photo of boyThe average waiting time for regular appointments is currently between 6 and 9 months. When your name is at the top of the waiting list, we will offer you an appointment as soon as one becomes available at a time that works for you.

* Unfortunately we cannot currently accept new referrals from 23-24 year olds due to funding issues. This will not affect young adults already on the waiting list. We apologise for this and are working hard to ensure that our full service for young adults is restored as soon as possible

Open Door does not offer an emergency service so if you need urgent help, we suggest that you talk to your GP, or go to the A&E department of your local hospital.
